Timelimit or Fraglimit in pugs/scrims
Re: Timelimit or Fraglimit in pugs/scrims
See, sometimes I have good idea floating around in the peanut of a brain
On a serious note though, I am unable to help with this either, for many reasons. I don't do scrims enough to really be the best option, and I still have crappy net. Have fun with it, do't make it too serious.
Re: Timelimit or Fraglimit in pugs/scrims
Anyone in for trying this tonight? Maybe a 6v6, v2 and another map, Timelimit 15, roundlimit 3 or 4.
Re: Timelimit or Fraglimit in pugs/scrims
We have a smooth running scrim/pug server now. I agree with msD (on the, ain't broke thing), there is no confusion with this. And we did try your time thing and it was confusing and did create camping as strategy in the late stages. One of the worst scrims I played, actually. I'm sure others in this pug would concur.

SEAHAWKS ALL DAY !!!

Thanks for your comment. I wouldn't rush into conclusions based on a single scrim, though —what you just did would be like me playing a scrim with fraglimit, thinking it was confusing and not fun, and generalizing that every scrim played with fraglimit sucks. In any case, it seems no one is really interested in trying timelimit alone any further, so let's better forget about it.!nFeRnO wrote:We have a smooth running scrim/pug server now. However, in order to avoid having extremely long lasting scrims (+2hrs), would it be possible to implement timelimit on top of fraglimit, so a map finishes either when a team reaches 7 points, or after certain amount of time has passed (for example, 20 minutes)?
On the downside, that would make the "math" a little more "complicated" or "confussing". On the plus side, it would make scrims last shorter (in most cases), making them have an "expiration time" —people would know a map would never last more than 40 minutes (20 minutes per side), regardless of camping, etc. Right now, sometimes you sit to play a scrim at 1am, and you are done by 3am, which seems excessive.
Re: Timelimit or Fraglimit in pugs/scrims
Sorry dude the new format is confusing and unnecessary. If people have a problem staying up for 2 hours for a scrim then they should know by now what they're signing up for lol. Besides the majority of the time it takes in a scrim is picking teams, maps, etc so if you figure out a way to make that go faster then go for it.
