Protecting user names

Post by High on Death »

Since we have some douchebags who like to hack under other players usernames, I might as well point out that we can protect anybody's user name with a password.

The protected name filter feature of the patch will stop player names from being used by other players. Basically, tell us the password and EXACT user name you use, and nobody will be able to play under that name without the password.

Rcon commands
protname
unprotname
listprotnames

usage:
rcon protname "-<MisFits>- someguy" "password"

Once the name is protected, anyone using that name will be instantly kicked unless they set the protected name password.

To set a protected name password, player has to type this into game console: setu cl_namepass "password"

As always, it's easy to use either a bind or an alias to join the server so you don't have to enter IPs and passwords.
e.g.
alias mis "setu cl_namepass mypassword; rconAddress 108.61.125.23; rconPassword XXXXXXX; password xxxxx; connect 108.61.125.23"

This alias enters my username password, logs me into rcon, enters the private password password, and connects.
