Scrim server map conflicts

Post by High on Death »

Hey guys,

PUG last night was fun, but reveals that we have many map/scripting conflicts, etc. that we should deal with if we're gonna get back in the habit of using it for public scrims. It undercuts enthusiasm for pugging if things are always fucked up server-side.

Also, we can use some of our server features and branding in the server if you want. The weapon trader, for example; switch you to a sniper if need be, rather than spawning you without weapons. Dead bodies and kick nades, which can be turned on or off by default, scripts for scrimming, etc.

I'll be glad to help sort things out if y'all like, but I don't want to be stepping on anybody's toes. Let me know.

If there are any maps in particular that you guys like they can be sorted out first. I'll assume that you guys prefer the DM maps that you'd prefer the MSL setups?

BTW that muzzle flash on LOLV2 has GOT to go! :D

It was good fun, but yea a few things to fix

Ideally (while we are in MSL comp) we would have it set up that way and scripts for things we are able to turn on/off

What can we do by scripts and what can't we do?

Can we put them in 2 categories so we can figure out what we want
Also the process for the stuff that doesn't work via a script (i.e. 2 seperate folders on the drive?)

I don't know this side of stuff very well sorry!
p.s. ... didn't see the muzzle flash?

I use them for things like the weapon selector, turning kicknades/bodies on and off, for example. Scrim server probably you don't want that anyway, but who knows?

Also it encodes the objective, and added boxes/objects, stuff like that, like that box that can get you on the rood of warehouse 1 on LOLV2.

Mainly, we'd have to go through the maps and where there's differences in objective, pick the one we want to use and make it server-side. 9/10 we can fix that way.

Ideally, any maps in the MisFits map pack should work properly for any player that had our map pack, the volute map packs, or both.
There are some maps (Canal comes to mind) where the two versions are different beyond scripting, and I don't know if we can address it server-side or not.

That's interesting. For me, there was a big flash coming out of the flak up top, where if you were standing behind the flak, it blocked your view of the left window on Gem's room and door for steel bridge. I was also getting all kinds of sound glitches until I installed the volute maps for the second half
