Trump Wishes Well To An Accused Pedophile

Donald Trump has bestowed his good wishes on Ghislaine Maxwell, who faces federal charges for allegedly enabling the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking of minor girls.

At a press conference ostensibly to discuss the coronavirus crisis gripping the US on Tuesday, Trump took questions from reporters, one of whom asked him about Maxwell’s recent arrest and whether she might implicate some of the “powerful men” who formed part of Epstein’s jet set social circle.

“I don’t know – I haven’t really been following it too much. I just wish her well, frankly,” Trump responded. “I have met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is.”

Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, was arrested this month and charged with conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and perjury.

Epstein was arrested last July and killed himself in federal jail in August. His death sparked a flurry of speculation about what he knew about the powerful figures from the worlds of politics, science and entertainment with whom he had frequently associated, including figures like Trump, Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew.
Can some of the GOP posters explain why a good "evangelical" man like Trump (3x married btw) would send "well wishes" to someone who is accused of what she is? Why would he wish her well? Any ideas?

Follow up: Trump spoke AGAIN on Maxwell/Epstein just a few days later...

President Donald Trump is now saying that he wished Ghislaine Maxwell well after she was arrested because he doesn't want her to die in jail like her former boyfriend and alleged accomplice, Jeffrey Epstein.

In an interview with "Axios on HBO" that aired Monday night, Trump was asked why he wished Maxwell well when she's been arrested on allegations of child sex trafficking.

"Well, first of all you don't know that," Trump said to the allegations of child sex trafficking. "Her friend or boyfriend (Epstein) was either killed or committed suicide. She's now in jail. Yeah, I wish her well. I'd wish you well. I'd wish a lot of people well. Good luck. Let them prove somebody was guilty."

When asked to clarify whether he was suggesting he hoped she doesn't die in jail, Trump told Axios: "Her boyfriend died in jail and people are still trying to figure out, how did it happen? Was it suicide? Was he killed? And I do wish her well. I'm not looking for anything bad for her."

What did he mean by wishing her well, do you suppose?

He was saying the exact same thing I and milllions of others were saying. "I hope she lives long enough to testify in court!"

Jeffrey Epstein was pretty obviously murdered for what he knows about powerful people. The odds of her making it to trial are not too good.

Are you seriously claiming that you didn't know what he meant by this, Circa? Or did you not see the event and you are just cutting-and-pasting BS from some Trump-hating sight?

If he meant I hope she lives long enough to testify in court... why not just say this? Why is there always another explanation for what he said that is conveniently not what he said?

If Jeffery Epstein was murdered why hasn't the Trump led DOJ laid charges yet?

I think a normal comment to make in this situation for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES would be something like this...

"She's accused of terrible crimes, I hope she is punished to the full extent of the law."

NOT

"I wish her well"

BTW - do you know hired Jeffery Epstein for his first teaching gig in New York? Donald Barr... yep that's right... William Barr's (current AG) father.

I thought Trump was supposed to be a the king of real talk, tell us how it is.. but he "wishes her well".. ?

Its amazing that a simple 4-word answer at a press conference, about a topic that has absolutely nothing to do with the president or the issues of the day, is so bloody important.

What is Trump supposed to say? Is he supposed to give long-winded answers to questions about an inmate in federal custody? He's the head of the adminsitration. Its not a good idea for him to be talking about ongoing criminal investigations, particularly one like this. And that, of course, is why the media wants to ask him about it. They just want the diversion and to cause as much trouble as they can.

So "I wish her well." was a very good answer. Brief, legally safe, yet still showing concern for the very real possibility that she might be murdered like Epstein was.

For you to try to imply that Trump saying "I wish her well" was in some way supportive or condoning sexual abuse of minors, then well that is just a flat-out lie, my friend.

As I said in my original post (hopefully it wasn't too much Leftist garbage that you actually read it - but just in case here it is again)

"She's accused of terrible crimes, I hope she is punished to the full extent of the law."
Seems pretty concise to me. Covers all bases. No questions about wishing a potential pedophile well with my proposed statement.

I guess he couldn't say what I suggested because.. yknow he's the head of the administration and stuff...? like what?

So you'd have the chief law enforcement officer of the land proclaim a high-profile alleged criminal guilty and advocate her punishment, before there's been a trial or any evidence heard?

Would that REALLY be a good idea? Seriously...
