well I am kind of bored now tho, I only kept going because 7.1 and 5.1 are real things, they are called that because they are real, they are not fake gimicks to get people to buy things, you can buy those systems and play audio that uses it or play games that support it and benefit from it, it increases your awareness of sounds and direction in games, immersion in movies and probably has other uses that you could do that Im not thinking of, but to use them, you need to have first off the system the speakers are connected to have separate channels for each speaker and the sound matrix to decipher the sound source which also has to be coded into that many channels for any of it to work at all, 7.1 is the amount of channels not speakers, you could make a 7.1 surround sound system in your home for your tv and have it have 9 speakers, maybe you double up left and right for extra volume and even 14, just double up on all of them if you have the amp power for them all. but its not describing how many speakers, just how many channels of sound
