So i installed it...

fps fine but game play was all jittery

I personally use a blood mod, our skins, and the chicken health packs. To those who don't like it, too bad. They are allowed on our servers.

Edit: I just started looking into recording with fraps again.. it was cutting off every 30 seconds for me last night but I fixed that today so I should be able to post up a video after I get some gameplay footage :)
The best way to record (in terms of quality and flexibility, but more time consuming) is to use the mohaa.exe that allows recording with the following commands in three simple steps:

/record "FILENAME" (Filename is the name of the dm3 that will be created). For instance:
/record ogbubba1

/stoprecord (this will stop recording)

/playdemo "FILENAME" (Filename is the name of the dm3 that you want to reproduce). For instance:
/playdemo ogbubba1

Note: You don't need the "/".

Once you are watching your own demo, you can either use fraps to record the video (or another capturing software), or use the following command to extract still frames that can be later stitched into a video file using a video editor. The advantage of doing so is that you can set the graphics as high as you want, and also specify any frame rate you want, and will still get every single frame. That allows producing high quality videos. The disadvantage is that you lose sound, which you could anyway overlay if you wanted (more extra work though). The command is:

/cl_avidemo "FPSRATE" (where FPSRATE is how many frames per second you want to export). For instance (right after executing /playdemo ogbubba1):
/cl_avidemo 30 (or 60 if you later want to do very high rate slow motions).
/cl_avidemo 0 (to stop exporting frames, if I remember correctly).

One shortcoming of the modified mohaa.exe for recording is that it does not allow to forward or rewind or pause. However, I modified that already-modified mohaa.exe, and added forwarding and rewinding capabilities, which is useful if you want to record by round.

Hey dckx thanks for the info - def saving this so I don't lose it later. That is more work :) but I may give it a try if I am unhappy with the quality I get from just recording with FRAPS.

Strange you had issues with mohaa and screenrecorder as you can see in this video of me playing against elite in a scrim my fps in the 100s to 200s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT7nTxFxcKE

I have 4 others on my channel all recorded playing in misfits server

I used cyerlink powerdirector 11 for the editing and screen recorder for the video.

In any case, I think screen recorders capture video at a much lower rate than whatever mohaa is running at. So you might be running v2 at 600fps, but the video recorder will still capture at 29.97fps or something similar. Is that correct? To me, the decision is simple: If you just want to record a quick video for direct sharing/viewing, with no major editing, then fraps or other screen capture software is the option. If, on the contrary, you want high video quality for video editing purposes (maximum quality and resolution, and any frame rate) then mohaa.exe for recording is the way to go —especially, considering that mohaa.exe will allow you to export at ANY frame rate you want (in other words, frame rate will not be limited by your computer power).

I ticked a box that made it a lot better, but just not smooth
my PC is over 10 years old (bar the SSD and vid card) so its probably the cpu struggling a bit

Never used fraps, happy to use my phone!

This video was made many years ago using the technique I described. The frags are not very interesting, but the video itself is well edited (although I think many people would think it has too many effects), and has some amazing slow-mo clips, which are only possible to record with that method. This edited videos with music and stuff used to get me so hyped (and still do sometimes).

Maybe it would be fun, for those of us interested, to record a couple of scrim/pugs, and do a proper mohaa frag movie featuring the best frags. Would anyone be interested in being part of that?

just a quick question in regards to the fps some people are getting, up to 600+? I read somewhere that fps should match your monitor refresh rate, and going beyond that is not doing much. You can get monitors that have a 240hz refresh rate which equates into 240 fps if capped to the monitor's refresh rate, as well higher hz/fps is supposed to reduce tearing. As a result, I cap mine at 75 frames which is good and I don't think my eyes would notice much beyond that. I am only going by something G3m had said long ago on this, and I may have heard him wrong lol so anything you guys know on this? Info is appreciated thanks.
