HELP!

Post by Tro »

So my old headset is dead, been held together with tape the last few years!

Problem:
Nades and rifles sound amplified and bass, not very directional

New headset, however MOHaa just doesn't sound the same ... I have been through all settings and drivers etc .... its only with MOH
I had the same problem a while back, on my old pc, so took the headset back and got different brand .. still the same .. so took them back as well

Now I just want to fix this problem .. has anyone had any luck with a similar problem???

Have tried different settings in game, in drivers, new drivers etc ..

All you did was change the headphones? No other changes were made, is this the same PC? Sounds like the new headphones are producing a different sound / different quality of sound. Very weird indeed.

Yea, I actually think my old headset was of very low quality... over the last 4-5 years... I haven't been able to find a set that works as well
I installed an equaliser and turned down the bass on some frequencies and that got me half way there!!
The sound isn't as crisp and finding it hard to pinpoint sound locations - but ill get used to it i guess :(

I am thinking the next best thing would be earplugs!?!?

Have you tried playing with just the in-game and your system volume levels? I know sometimes when my in-game volume is max (console: s_volume 100) is set and my system volume is not at the correct level (i.e., to loud) the sound produced is much different.

Also if you are using Windows go into Control Panel - > Sounds -> <Pick your headphone device> -> Play with the levels, make sure bass boost is unchecked, same with loudness/headphone equalization/virtualization if they are there as well.

Sorry Tro, not quite sure I understand what you are experiencing. Hope you get it figured out, sounds like you have been doing the right things.. beats me..

Edit: Can you share the headphone models, old and new?

Tried all sorts, volume down helped slightly but lose too much of everything else!

Old set was: Gamecom from plantronics
New set (current): Ttesports from Thermaltake

Anyways, I am getting use to them now ... I'm sure in a week ill be happy lol

Thanks for the responses!

The realtek Audio driver that comes stock with most mobo's is definitely bass heavy. Takes a min to get used to. Its probably just better drivers inside your headset.
